March 6-11, 2012

BERLIN, GERMANY - During the ITB 2012 Berlin conference, the World Air League met with tourism authorities, representatives and stakeholders for Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) in the United Kingdom, Germany, Jordan, Egypt, UAE, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, California, New York and France.

Prior to ITB Berlin, the United Nations World Tourism Organization and World Air League agreed to an MOU for jointly using the World Sky Race to promote sustainable tourism and diversity as the world shifts to a green economy. Supporting this goal, Dr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary General opened and participated in discussions on the RACE with Ministries of Tourism attending ITB.

This year the ITB Berlin host country spotlight was on Egypt. With Egypt going through its government institutional and social transition, the Ministry of Tourism was actively engaged in promoting the return of tourists to Egypt. Tourism Minister Dr. Monir Fakhri Abdel Nour agreed to ratify the earlier understanding between the World Air League and the earlier government to have landing rights at the Great Pyramids of Egypt.
