UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE CENTRE
WORLD AIR LEAGUE
PARTNERS FOR CONNECTING THE GLOBE
The World Air League has pledged to support and underwrite UNESCO World Heritage Centre programs that promote green aviation, global sustainable eco-tourism, cultural education and World Heritage Sites conservation. The UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the World Air League are coming together to form an historic global partnership to promote awareness of the UNESCO Mission. Program funding will be from the international World Sky Race corporate sponsorships. Globally, individual donations and volunteerism will be encouraged.
The joint World Heritage Centre and World Air League activities will include:
- Producing public service announcements for connecting global awareness by the World Sky Race
- Developing and distributing the educational lesson plans and materials
- Hosting programs for encouraging students world wide
- Providing hands on public education opportunities to participate in the World Sky Race
- Creating cross-cultural exchanges between students world-wide
- Developing Internet content for classrooms in 25+ languages for geography, history and cultural lesson plans
- Encouraging cross promotions by World Sky Race sponsors to focus on youth participation
- Specific World Heritage Sites will provide focus for importance of preservation and conservation of global culture
Charitable Activities - The World Air League will be setting up on its website a means to make charitable contributions to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The contributions will be in the form of pledges based on absolute amounts ($25, $100, $500) or amounts computed based on distance traveled by a selected skyship. (i.e. $.01 per mile or .01 per kilometer). On EBay, the World Air League will auction rides on the skyships at selected milestone sites with the proceeds going to selected UNESCO causes.
World Heritage Site Racecourse Flyovers - Ministries of Tourism are involved in helping chart the racecourse to include fly-overs of selected World Heritage Sites. Visually, the World Sky Race will take the world audience on a connecting tour of our grand vistas and monumental icons. Using the skyships to focus global attention, web links to each site will provided.
World Heritage Alliance - Cultural and Historic Conservation - As a concerned and interested citizen of the world, the World Air League believes in promoting community involvement and preservation of World Heritage sites. We pledge to be active and supportive globally and locally.
"Travel and tourism is one of the largest sources of economic activity in the world. At the same time, it can be an important force of sustainability by raising living standards in under-developed areas, promoting preservation and the natural and human environment."
